Frequently Asked Questions

Benefits

Q. Why join CISO?

A. Network with companies, talk with employers, meet new students in your college, be part of a mentoring program, and free food.

Q. I heard there's free food at the CISO meetings. Is that correct?

A. Yes, there's free food during the CISO meetings. Of course, that's not why you're there, right? No one would stoop that low to come to a professional meeting, steal food, leave, and waste the hundreds of dollars spent each week for CISO members.

Q. Will I get hired at the CISO meetings?

A. No. However, you will learn of companies who do hire after your graduation and will hear professionals describe what types of candidates they look for.

Membership

Q. Is membership limited to BCIS students?

A. No.  While a large portion of our members are BCIS students, membership is open to all Business and Computer Science members.

Q. How do I become a member of CISO?

A. Fill out the Student Membership Form and bring the printout to one of the CISO meetings to pay for your membership.

Q. How can I contact CISO officers?

A. Please feel free to send us an email anytime or talk to us during any one of our CISO meetings.

Q. Where do I pay my membership fee?

A. At the weekly CISO organization meetings.  Check the events calendar for dates and locations.

Q. How do I become a CISO officer?

A. Each semester, we allow students to become part of the CISO team. We'll hold officer elections towards the end of each Fall or Spring semester. During this time, you have the opportunity to submit a canvas or portfolio that describes who you are and your desire to become a CISO officer.
